What To Expect
At Church of Our Saviour we use the Rite II Eucharist from the 1979 Book of Common Prayer for both services.
The 8 a.m. Eucharist is a simple said service that we read directly out the Red Book of Common Prayer. There is a small faithful group of parishioners who attend this early service, but new people are always welcome and are greeted with enthusiasm.
The 10 a.m. Eucharist is a sung service. We use the 1982 Hymnal along with a special booklet for this service. The booklet brings together all the parts of the Eucharist found in the BCP, and also includes the service music (the musical settings for the Gloria, Sursum Corda, Lord’s Prayer and Fraction).
All baptized Christians are welcome to receive communion. If you are not baptized or would not like to receive the sacrament you are still welcome to come up to the railing during communion. Merely cross your arms over your chest and the priest will know to give you a blessing.
After the 10 a.m. Eucharist there is a gathering for food and coffee. This is an opportunity for fellowship and discussion and a good time to get to know new people in the congregation. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to join our community for coffee hour.
